Midwest Hormone Centers - Our Approach

Not All Hormone Therapy Treatment Centers Are Created Equal

Our system of care involves assessing our patients from a holistic and comprehensive standpoint; this approach includes evaluations of metabolic, physiologic, hormonal, emotional, and physical functions. Our goal is to restore the balance between the body’s metabolic, hormonal and immune functions; these functions are key to our patient’s physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Throughout time men and women have suffered and endured the negative effects of aging often never dreaming that some of these things can be countered or even prevented altogether. Now modern technology has led us to the understanding that some of these changes that our bodies go through can be “helped” along with science.

The term you may have heard recently is bioidentical hormones. These are the hormones that replicate the exact molecular structure of the hormones we make in our own bodies. This is the term bioidentical. At Midwest Hormone Centers hormone / testosterone dysfunction is treated in men during andropause and women during perimenopause & menopause utilizing two modalities of treatment either intramuscular injections or pellets.

Bioidentical hormones are assimilated in the body as if the organs produced them. When they are restored with HRT or TRT protocols the body clock is essentially turned back to a more youthful period in one’s life. It’s important to understand that the symptoms associated with aging can be managed with hormone replacement therapy and quality of life factors can be improved.

Bioidentical hormones have become very popular because many see them as a safe and highly effective way to recapture the youthful zest for living life to its fullest while striving to recover some of the drive and energy that was taken for granted during other periods of our life.

Low hormones levels in women and low testosterone in men impacts nearly every function of the human body having significant effects on mind, body, and sexual functions:

  • Low Energy Levels
  • Lack of Focus and Concentration
  • Weight Gain and Obesity
  • Lack of Sexual Drive and Performance
  • Lack of Enthusiasm for Living Life to its Fullest

Why Bioidentical Hormone Therapy Versus Traditional Treatments?

Bio-identical hormones have a similar molecular makeup as the hormones our own bodies already produce or were producing prior to menopause or andropause. Treatment with a hormone that mirrors the exact molecular structure of what you lost means

What does that mean for the patient?

  • More effective symptom relief
  • Less side effects
  • Lower dose = less exposure to hormones–a concern for some patients/referring doctors

Bioidentical hormones work more effectively because the body can interpret and understand what is entering it versus a non bio-identical hormone that has a different molecular makeup before it even enters the body.

Example: When a non-bioidentical estrogen, such as oral estradiol, enters the body, the FSH doesn’t fully understand what is entering the body and does not know to drop its levels like with a bio-identical estrogen. Because non-bioidentical estrogen’s don’t work as effectively to relieve symptoms, providers will often continue increasing estrogen doses to try to alleviate symptoms which can increase side effects and hormone exposure. A lot of women come to our office with multiple side effects due to the high doses of estrogen they are on.  Symptoms like nausea/headaches/breast tenderness/fluid retention/mood instability/vaginal bleeding that is simply avoidable.

HRT / TRT Treatments can be done very differently clinic-to-clinic and provider-to-provider in other words not all treatment is the same. Let’s outline a few differences in care strategies.

What Should I Look For When Selecting a Hormone Replacement Treatment Center?

  • Are bioidentical hormones used instead of pharmaceuticals?
  • Does the provider address all the hormones and understand the interrelationships between them?
  • Are treatment plans built unique for each patient’s symptoms, lab values and medical history?
  • Are lab values interpreted to optimize patient’s symptoms vs. accepting patient’s labs within “normal ranges?”
  • Are symptoms to hormone relationships understood so individualized adjustments can be made for each patient?
  • Is the right delivery system for EACH hormone used (i.e. Injection, Pellet, Creams, Tablet, Troche) these have drastic effects on outcomes?
  • Is the dosage of each hormone correct?
  • Is the frequency between treatments correct for your body’s metabolism?
  • Are the potential side effects managed appropriately?
  • Are risk factors managed?

Often insurance reimbursement drives how medical protocols are delivered – at the Midwest Hormone Centers we produce the absolute best individualized program tailored to your specific symptoms and body chemistry. Our goal is to see you reach your highest functional state.

Supporting Treatments for Optimal Health

BPC 157 Healing Peptide “Wolverine” (Pain and Injury Recovery)

Body Protection Compound (BPC) is composed of 15 amino acids, is a partial sequence of body protection compound (BPC) that is discovered in and isolated from the human gastric juice. In studies it has been demonstrated to accelerate the healing and decrease pain of many different wounds and damaged areas including: tendon-to-bone healing, healing of damaged ligaments, muscle sprains, heals soft tissue,  Relieves inflammation, helps to prevent ulcers of the stomach, improves digestive function, protects and heals inflamed intestinal epithelium (leaky gut)
improves inflammatory bowel disease.

PT – 141 “Bremelanotide” (Improved Libido)

PT-141, or Bremelanotide – has been shown to have substantial effect on libido, creating sexual arousal in both men and women. With proper dosing PT-141 acts within 30 minutes of taking the troche and effects may be felt up to 12 hours from the time of administration and have been known to last for up to 3 days, diminishing each day. PT 141 increases sexual desire via the central nervous system and does not act upon the vascular system.

Thyroid Optimization (WP or Nature Thyroid)

Many common problems such as fatigue, depression and difficulty losing weight can be due to low thyroid, however, many people, especially women, are not getting the treatment that would be of great benefit. This is because severely low thyroid levels are often not picked up by the standard TSH, T4, and T 3 testing, which is the only testing done about 90% of the time.

HCG Medical Assisted Weight/Fat Loss

Midwest Hormone Centers utilizes injections, full body composition analysis, structured meal planning, and 1 on 1 coaching in order to shelter muscle mass and maximize fat loss. The treatment mobilizes stored fat into a usable energy source so patients on a very low calorie diet experience high energy levels and minimizes hunger. The result is a low-calorie, high energy fat burning experience. Our program requires a very structured eating plan, but it is not a 500 calorie diet.

Lipotropic MIC (Metabolic Injections)

Lipotropics are compounds that enhance liver function and increase the flow of fats and bile from the liver and gallbladder. By definition, a lipotropic substance decreases the deposit, or speeds up the removal of fat (lipo = fat, tropic = stimulate) within the liver. Lipotropic injections are used to help release fat deposits in some parts of the body. Some of these areas include the stomach, inner thighs, neck, buttocks and hips. Lipotropic, or fat burning, substances include methionine which helps the liver remove fat; inositol, similar to methionine – choline, which distributes cholesterol and prevents it from getting deposited in one part of the body.

Glutathione Injections (Immune System Support)

Glutathione has been referred to as the “mother of all antioxidants.” When we are exposed to toxins, glutathione is used up faster than it can be produced. Antioxidants repair and prevent the damage and inflammation that is caused by toxins. Glutathione is a combination of three amino acids: cysteine, glutamic acid, and glucine. It is found in every cell in the body. The job of glutathione is to neutralize free radicals, thereby preventing damage to the cells. Glutathione is a critical component to reducing inflammation and enhancing the functions of the immune system.

B12 Injections Methylcobalamin– Biological Form of B12

Vitamin B12 is a water-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement and a prescription medication. The purpose of the Vitamin B12 injections is to improve energy levels, boost metabolism and help burn fat. Vitamin B12 is also required for proper red blood cell formation, neurological function, and DNA synthesis.

What Approach Does this Center Take to Towards Improving Body Composition?

We use aggressive empathy in patient care with a 3-step process towards improving body composition. Our primary objective is to ensure all hormonal deficiencies are corrected. Once hormones are optimized, we move to symptomatic body composition problems that are often linked to hormone imbalance (Increasing Body Fat and Decreasing Muscle Mass). These problems are often metabolic in nature and we address each issue “One Problem at a Time,” first body fat reduction and second, muscle building.

Losing Body fat is the first priority and addressed with our medically supervised 60-90-day program. Body Composition analysis establishes a benchmark and ideal range for each individual’s body and associated pounds of fat. Goals are reached with an individualized low-calorie diet and a variety of specialty compounded natural products. As we lose body fat our goal is to retain muscle mass with appropriate dietary adjustments made from frequent periodic reviews of Body Composition. This allows the Coach to adjust protein levels “as needed” to offset lean muscle loss during the program. Since most of our patients are also receiving Hormone Treatment their bodies are able to gain huge benefits from the additional protein consumption and often begin it see an increase in muscle mass after the 4th week. After ideal ranges of body fat are reached new meal plans are established to get to the desired ratio of muscle to fat that the patient expressed in the initial goal setting phase.
